The Middle banks provides premier pelagic fishing within a time budget. The second line of banks just off the San Diego coastline, you will find Bluefin Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, Dorado, and Yellowtail lurking in these waters. The most common methods of fishing here is patty hopping. The Captain will look for the patties floating on the water surface, hoping that underneath you will find what you are looking for. Other methods including trolling, kite fishing, balloon fishing, and freelining your bait on the boil.
If you are not looking to go on a 24 hour + trip, but still want to get on the tuna, this is your call.

People often ask me, “Why is going on a private or open-party six-pack charter so much more expensive, then say buying a couple of tickets on a big party boat?” I have decided to delve into this common question and explain why private six-pack charters are the VIP ride of the fleet. SPEED & RANGE - The number one reason to choose a six-pack fishing boat is that they go fast. We are talking a cruising speed of 15 knots and flank speed of 21+ knots (for when you need to haul ass three miles to hop on your buddies radio call-in). What this translates too, is more fishing time, and less travel time. Or… even better yet, the same travel time, and extended range. Either way, you win by having more time with your hook in the water.
