Yellowtail and Dorado at the inner banks! Wide open bites right now. Any 3/4 day trip we offer can take you there!
The Inner Banks consist of a number of spots that are all within 25 miles of San Diego, to the North, South, and West (strait out). The inner banks can sometimes be the best fishing of all, but generally favors the peak of the season months (like July and August). When its hitting, its hitting hard, and places like the 9 mile bank provide strong incentive for avid fisherman to find the big ones, without having to travel far.
Earlier this summer, we were even briefly catching Bluefin Tuna at the nine mile bank. First time in a long time that the big blue was that close to San Diego. A good time was had by all.
A quick ride from the bait barge to the North Nine Mile banks is only about an hour on a larger boat, and under 1 hour for our faster vessels.
The 9 Mile Bank stretches approximately 10 miles and is roughly 14 miles on a 220 degree heading from Mission Bay to the top of the 9 Mile Bank. It is an underwater mountain range that gets as shallow as 330 ft. Past the nine mile out to about 30 miles distance from Point Loma, San Diego, is considered the "Inner Banks"

What this translates too, is more fishing time, and less travel time. Or… even better yet, the same travel time, and extended range. Either way, you win by having more time with your hook in the water. HEADCOUNT - When you hop on one of the open party boats out of Point Loma or Mission Bay, you can expect to be joined by up to 20-60 of your closest friends, shoulder to shoulder for the rest of the day. Not so on a six-pack fishing boat, it’...
