BIG bluefin are still here, Yellowfin have arrived, and Yellowtail and Dorado fishing will peak soon. Based on current numbers, from all the landings, not just ours... we are having a stellar season, and it keeps getting better.
The best part about this years fishing so far, is how close the tuna are. This time last year, you were looking at, at least a 1.5 day trip to put you on bluefin. Not this year though, a 12 hour trip has a decent chance of getting a bluefin. For best results, check out one of our fast four pack boats, that can haul butt at 35 knots and get you out there in a hurry. Best bang for bucks.
The Yellowfin Tuna are expected to arrive in mid to late July. Optimal trips for this species start with a minimum full day 12 hour trip, with an overnight or 1.5 day trip highly recommended. We expect this year to be especially good for this species due to a predicted hot summer and unusually warm waters. This fish is mostly hunted on the troll, with visual sightings, and using side scan sonar, but occasionally they show up on the kelp beds. Regardless of how or where, you can be sure that this fish will put up a great fight and taste great!
